Steps of communication

It has three major steps. This includes the thought, encoding and decoding. The thought is the subject of information that exists in sender’s mind. When the sender transforms his thoughts, ideas or concepts into verbal speech or a written message, then this is known as encoding. Encoding refers to the encryption of ideas from the perspective of the sender. When the message is received by the receiver, the recipient reads and understands it. He may translate the information to better understand it. So decoding refers to the interpretation of information from the perspective of the receiver. When the receiver clearly understands the information sent to him, two-way the communication process ends here.

Communication can be a one-way or two-way process. When the information conveyed by the sender is received by the recipient, this states for the completion of a one-way process. It is not necessary that the recipient must respond to the sender, but if the recipient formulates a message in reply to sender’s message, then communication becomes a two-way process. Media content is an example of one-way communication, in which the receiver is not required to respond back, but he only receives the information.

Step #5

Conform your communication to the feedback received.

Look for a consensus of understanding
Change your message, type of communication, style, tone, etc. as feedback is received.

The communication process can be affected by how the information is transmitted, received, and interpreted in two ways:
-Noise. Any sort of interference that affects the message being sent, received, or understood.
-Physiological Noise. Distraction caused by how we think and feel, i.e. fatigue, headaches, hunger, or other factors.
-Physical Noise.

Environmental interference, such as noise made by others, crowds, high or low temperatures, and bright or dim lighting.

Psychological Noise. One’s feeling and personality affects how effective communication and interpretation is, i.e. defensive feelings, preoccupation, or prejudice.
Semantic Noise. Words must be mutually understood for communication to take place. Technical language or jargon can cause confusion.
Context. The setting and situation – physical, cultural, or social – in which communication takes place can impact the successful exchange of information.
The communication process helps us define who is involved in communication and what must take place.

Receiving the message by receiver: This stage simply involves the reception of sender’s message by the receiver. The message can be received in the form of hearing, seeing, feeling and so on.
Decoding: Decoding is the receiver’s interpretation of the sender’s message. Here the receiver converts the message into thoughts and tries to analyze and understand it. Effective communication can occur only when both the sender and the receiver assign the same or similar meanings to the message.
Feedback: The final step of communication process is feedback. Feedback means receiver’s response to sender’s message. It increases the effectiveness of communication. It ensures that the receiver has correctly understood the message. Feedback is the essence of two-way communication.

Communication: Communication is the conscious action of exchanging information between two or more participants in order to transmit or receive different information or opinions. Process: Step 1. Development of an idea. It is a task of the issuer to be clear about the idea that is intended to be transmitted. It is a very important process because if the sender does not develop an idea and transmits it, communication no longer exists.

Step 2. Coding. This step consists in that once the sender has an idea he has to encode the message that he intends to transmit in words, graphics, text, symbols or any other suitable way so that the receiver can know the message. In this step the sender has to choose the correct code that facilitates the transmission of the message and reception by the receiver.

There are different types of codes, such as the Spanish language, the language of the deaf and dumb, the Morse code, the letters, etc. There are also codes for special groups, such as the police, pilots, lawyers, etc., that have a special way of transmitting their messages.
