Eddie's unit accidentally causes her death while they were fleeing captivity, and she reveals this to him, leading him to confront his deepest regret and ultimately find peace. Tala's lesson for Eddie was "he was destined to be at Ruby pier, specifically to keep children safe. Eddie actually took care of Tala and bathed her by using a "stone" by the river to wash her.
