1.)She gets inspired: Kate took a coarse of writing from a graduate student. When she wrote an essay for class, the student read it out loud and said it was amazing. That inspired her to be a writer.
2.)She loved to read as a child: It was her way of going somewhere when she couldn't. Even now she writes so she can become that character in that setting.
3.) She didn't like to write: Kate wasn't a fan of waking up every morning to finish a story. She tried to set a goal for at least two pages a day. But she was always happy when she did write.
4.) She is also inspired from a quote by Dorothy Parker: "I hate writing. I love having written" That is a quote that she looks to when she writes.
5.) Even though she doesn't like it, she still does it: Even though she doesn't like to write, she has written four novels, six easy readers, and a new book called Great Joy.
6.)Kate got  awards: She has gotten a few awards for her books. She got a Newbery Medal for her a story called The Tale of Despereaux in 2004. She also got a Newbery Medal for Flora & Ulysses in 2014.

Kate DiCamillo had many jobs before she became an author. She didn't right until she was 30. She thought writing was a talent there for she kept on not righting and saying she was a writer even though she wasn't writing. She had to overcome that and now she keeps on writing every day.  
2) Kate loved to read. Kate always read she says that she always loves reading her books and not writing them. She also said when I won the Newberry Medal award honor for Because of 'Winn-Dixie' it felt great. She said I knew that award meant something, when I was a child and I saw a book with that medal I knew I would love the book.
3)  Kate always read different genres. She always read different genres. She was never looking for a specific one. She said she was always looking for a book that many people she knew had reccomended. Also like I said in number 2 if she found a book that had the Newberry Medal on it she always wanted to read that book. 
4) Kate hates writing, but loves having written. She said everyday I wake up and think ughhhhhhhhh. I don't want to write today. Even with all of this I do it anyway. I do it not because I love writing, but because I love have written. Also I do it because the world makes more sense when I write. 
5) Kate likes writing children's books. She loves writing children's picture books, and children's novels. You can tell because for one all of her books are kids picture books or novels. Number 2 she always tries to help kids and she thinks if I can get them to read my books that should make them start liking reading. She also once went on a 2 year mission to try to get children to read.  
6) Kate loves Florida. Kate has always loved Florida. For one she grew up there which I think is a pretty good reason. Also she wrote Because of 'Winn-Dixie' in what was the coldest winter ever in Minnesota. She said she was homesick and that was her only way of going to Florida was by letting her imagination take her there through reading and writing. 
7) Kate loves dogs. Kate said her entire life she has always been more of a dog person. She said in Because of 'Winn-Dixie' she thought wow the 2 things I love most in one single book! This one will be a great book. So while it was the coldest winter in Minnesota she was writing a book about one of the warmest places in the US Florida. She said I was homesick because for the first time in my life I didn't have access to a dog. 
8) Kate assumes kids feel powerless. She says we are somewhat dumb and feel like we are being treated like pests. Which I think is entirely dumb she probably just had a bad parent or a bad childhood. So I am super mad about this and because of that do not like Kate DiCamillo as a person. She is actually okay as an author and I pretty much say you are horrible if I don't normally read you. 
9) Kate always had a secret vocabulary. She thought that this would help her a lot in the long run. She wasn't exactly right, but she wasn't wrong either. The word that tops that list is  word capacious. It only considerly helped her because in one of her books at the end she puts that word. Nobody really knows why, but that book became a top seller.  
10) Kate was raised in Florida. If she wasn't she would not have been inspired to write some of her books that take place in Florida. 4. Kate desperately wanted a dog.
Kate desperately wanted a dog because she was feeling a little homesick. So she decided to make up her own dog. Ugly, smelly, and friendly.she made the book, Because of Winn-Dixie. It's about a girl who finds a dog in a Winn-Dixie store and takes it home. The main character is named India Opal. She's the one who took the dog home. She named it Winn-Dixie. They became very good friends and that's all because of Winn-Dixie
5. Kate learned that she didn't need talent, what she needed was persistence or in other words perseverance.
 She didn't like to write but she persevered through it. her goal was to write 2 pages a day and she did.

So she went out and decided to really become a writer this time.
