Tricia is young girl who quickly learns that she has an issue when it comes to reading. Her classmates start to catch on to it as well and begin to make fun of her. When her grandparents pass away Tricia and her family move away. As she enters third grade she hopes that she won't get picked on anymore but it continues. She enters fifth grade and she has a new teacher named Mr. Falker who does not tolerate bullying and love Tricia's artistic ability. He noticed that Tricia was unable to read and has her stay after school to work on her reading. After a few months Tricia begins to read sentences and then paragraphs. Tricia starts to feel smart. This is the authors story as a child.
