The name of the book I read was Above The Rim.
It was about a boy named Elgin who played basketball. He had different moves than everyone and people would stop what they were doing and watch Elgin play. When he went to high school he led his team to victory. He wanted to go to college but their were no colleges that could have black people,so his friend told him to come out west and that is what he did. He went to Idaho and the first few days he was their it was very rainy, but once the rain cleared up it was time for a game. Everybody stopped what they were doing to watch Elgin play,He led his college team to victory and decided to go to Seattle. He got drafted by the Minneapolis lakers and played for them. At the time the nba was not that popular,so basketball players travelled by train and slept on trains and the train seats were not big enough for them, they were looking for a hotel and all the hotels said white only,so they decided to go to a hotel that welcomed everybody, that night Elgin ate cold food in his hotel room. The next time he had a game he sat down and everybody asked why Elgin wasn't playing and they payed to see the whole team play and Elgin stood up and said he wanted to be treated like a human being. That night the news wrote about Elgin and that changed everything. The Minneapolis lakers moved to Los Angeles and Elgin won for his team. Elgin still played very different from the other players and people stopped what they were doing to watch Elgin play.

The title of my book was "Snowflake Bentley" by Jacqueline Briggs Martin. It was a true story about Wilson Bentley who lived in Vermont and loved the snow. He thought that the snow was a wonder and wanted to learn more about it. He would catch snowflakes and try to draw them but the would melt. So when he was 17 his parents bought him a camera that could take pictures of the snow. He loved what he did he never became rich because he spent it all on his stuff to take the pictures. When he started out taking pictures of the snow nobody was interested in it, most people thought it was stupid and not worth the time he took drawing or photographing the pictures. Later on in his life people started to think that it was worth time and money, they started to see the snow the way Snowflake Bentley saw it. After he died they made a monument to honor him and his work,he loved the snow and hoped that other people would love it to.

My book was called: How Raven Got His Crooked Nose. The reason he got such a crooked nose was because the lady used his beak for tools such as scraping Salmon and scrape Squirrel skins. Since she used it so much, it began to wear out a little bit. Then Raven used his powers to turn into human form and made an army of sand people to scare the Villagers away. eventually he found his nose/beak and put it back on just before the lady came back in the house. Raven flew out of the house without even knowing his nose was crooked. The authors are Barbara and Ethan J. Atwater

Her favorite color was brown. She liked any shade of brown. Laura wanted her paintings to be published into an art museum. When she got older, she listened to a teenager singer named Marian Anderson and she loved her singing. She also really wanted to paint a self portrait of her. She loved er shades of brown on her skin. Then Laura asked Marian if she could paint her. Marian said yes so Laura started painting her right away. She was so interested in painting her. Laura ws having a hard time having the right skin tone for Marian to look just like Marians skin tone. Then Laura finally found it and she finished her painting of Marian. Her goal was complete. Laura was a very good painter when she was young, and when she was old.

The state I had was Pennsylvania. The book attached to it was called "Jim Thorpe's Bright Path". It was a book about a boy named Jim. He had a brother named Charlie. One day, his father told Jim and his brother they needed to go to boarding school. Jim did not like boarding school. In their third year, Charlie got pneumonia and died. Jim was sad, and one day when he saw the empty cot where Charlie slept, he. couldn't do it. He ran home. In his second year at that school, he heard his father got shot in a hunting accident, so he ran home. His father was healed from his wound when Jim got home. Shortly after he returned home, his mother died from a sudden illness. Jim was sad. He went to another school. At that school, he got interested in electricity. Then he got moved over to a different school. He did not run away, he just got moved. After he arrived, he heard his father got bitten by a snake while working on his fields and died of blood poisoning. He then stayed at the school he was in because he thought the best way to remember his father was to live the dream his father had for him, which was to go to boarding school and get education.

It was about 2 sisters that were bullied and made fun of for being poor, being black, and that they were girls and liked tennis. People told them that poor people can't dream so big. The girls where really different from each other and other people. Then, one year, when Venus was 12 and Serena was 10, they moved to Florida! People respected them more, though they still talked about them badly sometimes. They practiced tennis a LOT. They hit 200 balls each day, then eventually, hit 1,000 balls each day! Then, when Venus was 14, she became a pro! Serena did the same when she was 16! Venus's first game she almost beat the most top ranked player in the world! The sister's then paired up. They were pretty much unbeatable! In 1998, Venus played against Serena to see who was better... Venus won. Infact, in February 2002, Venus was ranked best player in the world with her sister in 2nd!

He also hired Ti Sing, the main character, to cook for everyone. Ti Sing was a good cook and made very delicious food. And then things started to fall apart. First, he lost some donkeys that had tons of gourmet meat. Then, he lost the second food donkey, but he was able to scavenge food to make delicious meals. In the end, exactly 1 month, 1 year and 1 day after the trip, the National Parks law was passed. Ti Sing was a big part of this because he made such delicious food

The book that I listened to is called, For the Love of Autumn. This book is about a young teacher named Danielle and a very cute and small kitten named Autumn ( Danielle got Autumn in Autumn ). One day Danielle gets a call for a teaching job offer in Washington where she then moved to a little home by the water with Autumn, which she always dreamed of. Then one dark and stormy night Autumn goes missing for some time but then comes back that same night with a scraped tail ( that Danielle soon thinks is from a mountain lion ), and when Danielle was about to pick Autumn up, he ran away. Six weeks later Autumn comes home with his tail recovered, healthy and with a collar around his neck that had a phone number on it. So Danielle calls that number and the man that picked up the phone said that Autumn was his cat and that he found Autumn on a stormy night and named him Stormy. That made Danielle upset . But a couple days later, Autumn came home with a note from the man that picked up the phone that said sorry and explaining that he was a lonely man. When she told her students at school about the note, they encouraged her to invite the man over. So she did. And when she did she realized that it was a man around the same age as her that it was love at first sight. So the next spring they got married and lived very happily with each other and Autumn.

The book I choose to read is called:
"Sewing the Rainbow" By: Gayle E. Pitman.
One of the characters in this book is full of color and glitter and his name is Gilbert. Gilbert loved visiting his grandma and watching her sew and make great colorful pictures and clothes. Then one day him dad took away all of his coloring supplies and ripped up his drawings. He was so sad and was losing his color sparkle and glitter in him. He had a dream, and his dream was.. when he grew up he wants to go somewhere that's filled with color. His dream came to life and he called it home. He could finally be as colorful as he wanted to be. He missed his family so and all the clothes and drawings that his grandma made so he learned how to sew and made great costumes just like he drew when he was younger. The word got around that he was making costumes and clothes. Some famous people asked him to design a costume for them. He began making the city more and more colorful. There was something he needed to change and that thing was a logo, it reminded him of the evil. Then one of the men said to Gilbert "We need a new logo". Then Gilbert grabbed all sorts of supplies and gathered all his friends to have them help. the washed and dried the cotton and then Gilbert begin to sew.
They had made a flag and they were going to hang it up. People gathered around to see him lift the flag. He wonders if people would understand his flag.? Yes!!! People loved his flag and and now the rainbow flag is even in Kansas. Gilbert had finally made the world colorful!!!:)

His father sent his stubborn son farther away almost 300 miles this school was more hard but Jim did better he thought it was more interesting because he got to build stuff also he saw a football game and he immediately wanted to play but he was to small so he joined the track team. Later his father got sick so he ran all the way back home but his father was fine. A person heard about how Jim could run so fast and invited him to join a school and he did later on i think his mother got sick and died and not long after that his father died from a snake bite but he kept going to that school and eventually joined the football team.
