"The Summer and Winter Garden" is actually of German origin and talks much of the themes of sacrifice, the deception of appearances, and true love. Emily Dickinson's poem also touches on the idea of identity which can be related back to the theme of appearances. It's also important to look at the word choice used in each text because this also hints at the themes.
