This was made in 2010. Ever since the Macintosh was released in 1984, Apple has been making new technologies. Apple introduced this display for the Macbook pro and iPad. The screen is 400 pixels per inch. The Retina display name was normal for iPad, iPhone, etc. They also used IPS for better color accuracy.
