When providing an ESL student with a computer to use in class (for translations, English learning programs, etc.) how can you manage online distractions? Here I'm thinking of a gr. 4 student who often navigates away from the page/activity his teacher has assigned him and plays minigames instead.

This concept is already challenging enough when teaching students face to face, I can't imagine what it would be like online! What I do know is that an integral part of building upon English acquisition skills is primarily oral language based. Learning to understand and speak a new language beginning with simple vocabulary and everyday phrases would benefit all learners. Its' simple interface and focus on building upon vocabulary makes the learning contextual and meaningful. This could be a supplementary activity to use with students online as a group activity and for extra practice.

Can online asychronous learning be beneficial for ESL students?
