Rome has always been the home of the pope. It is where your church is centered and where the pope is meant to stay. I have visited Avignon and have come to the conclusion that it is a terrible city. Avignon does not even compare to the great city of Rome. Our people are starting to lose faith in our system. They know that what is happening right now is making a mockery of the religion and is embarrassing the church. You must think of all of your followers instead of just your French people. The pope has always been tied to Rome and even though you are not Roman, it should be your new home. I beg of you, please move back to Rome. Philip has too much influence. People don't take the religion seriously. Rome is better because there people will begin to listen and trust again, you will not have as much influence of bias being further away. I believe that you should move back to Rome. I have come to this conclusion because you are causing distress to all parties involved, therefore bringing disgrace to Catholicism as a whole, as you are the leader of our religion. Others are questioning why you remain in France. Rome is the central place for our faith and by staying in France you are making a mockery of this sacred city. You are also being negatively influenced by the French king for his benefit not ours.

Why are you deciding to stay in Avignon instead of living in Rome, the home of almost all of our Popes? You continue to drink away your worries but what you are missing is how you appear to others. Are we not to assume that you are biased towards France and its king because not only are you French, but you live in one of his cities. You are so far from the church, how are you supposed to stay connected to God and all of God's children when you are miles away in a palace? There are rumors I have heard of kingdoms who are extremely opposed to this. To an extent, I can agree with them. I would strongly advise that you move back to Rome. I think the city is causing you to make bad decisions that could change people's view of you. If your public image continues to be this bad to the people of Avignon and France, then they will not continue to like you as much as they do now. I ask you to please move back to Rome. The main churches and people are in Rome. There is to much bias from the French being in Avignon. We are losing people and the Church's reputation is being diminished. The Pope has always lived in Rome and it has gone well. After visiting Avignon I have seen so much in this city. I can tell that this is a great fishing city, but otherwise there is not much here. I can see that this city is broken, with crimes happening often, and people drinking too much. This city could use your help for improving the city. I hope all is well. However I have something to complain to you about. I beg that you please move back to Rome, life is better here, pope's have their heads on straight over here. Rome is also a more central point to live in compared to France and I'm sure that not too many people would be angry with you if you moved. Well, except for the French people but I think a good compromise to their money issue would be for the church to give them a little bit of our earnings for a while to help them get on their feet...
