Sir Andrew Barron ("Andy") Murray, OBE (Glasgow, Escocia, 15 de mayo de 1987) es un tenista profesional escocés, que compite por el Reino Unido y que actualmente ocupa la tercera posición del ranking de la ATP. En noviembre de 2016 llegó a la cima del Ranking ATP luego de 7 años y 3 meses, desde que alcanzara el puesto nº 2 por primera vez. Logró llegar a 41 semanas en la cima del ranking ATP en su primer ciclo como n° 1, encontrándose así en el puesto 14 de la tabla histórica de cantidad de semanas totales acumuladas de los 26 jugadores que lograron dicha hazaña. Es uno de los cuatro tenistas más exitosos del último decenio,11​ junto con Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal y Novak Djokovic (Los Cuatro Grandes.12​) Ha finalizado ocho temporadas consecutivas entre los cuatro mejores del ranking, sólo interrumpidas en el año 2014 cuando finalizó en el sexto puesto. A su vez, lleva once temporadas consecutivas entre los 20 mejores del ranking (2006-2016) y finalizó la temporada 2016 como nº 1 del ranking ATP.


Murray mide 1,90 m y tiene revés a dos manos; es conocido por su gran sensibilidad con la raqueta, especialmente con el revés, ya que con él genera tiros ganadores y tiros de pase efectivos; también se destaca en su juego su habilidad para defender. Andrew was born in the home of Will and Judy Murray. His maternal grandfather, Roy Ersine, was a professional soccer player in the 1950s. Andy's brother Jamie is also a professional tennis player, but he is more focused on the doubles circuit.

After the divorce of his parents, when Andy was nine years old, he and his brother Jamie lived with their father.
