Erasmus Climate Heroes - Shaping Tomorrow's World

• Introduce the concept of climate change, its impact, and the actions we can take to combat it, while encouraging teamwork and problem-solving.

• Foster environmental awareness, cooperation, and creativity among students.

• Encourage reflection on each individual’s role in preserving the planet.

NECESSARY MATERIALS

• Cards or small pieces of paper with situations/problems related to climate change (e.g., "deforestation", "rising sea levels", "species extinction", "plastic pollution", "overuse of resources", etc.)

• Coloured card or A3 sheets

• Markers and pens in various colours

• Whiteboard and markers

STEPS

1. Introduction (10 mins)

   • Brief explanation of what climate change is. Ask students what they know about the topic and encourage them to share examples they have heard.

   • Provide some practical examples and ask how they think climate change affects people’s daily lives and the planet.

2. Team Division and Mission Presentation (5 mins)

   • Divide the students into groups of four and explain that each group is now a "team of scientists" who have received an urgent mission: to help save the planet from a climate crisis.

   • Hand each group a card with a specific climate change-related problem. They should identify the problem, understand its causes, and think of a creative solution.

3. Problem Solving and Planning (15 mins)

   • Each group will have 15 minutes to discuss their assigned problem and find one or two practical solutions.

   • They should create a mini presentation (on a piece of card or A3 sheet) with an illustration or diagram of the problem and an explanation of the proposed solution(s).

4. Presentation of Solutions (10 mins)

   • Each group will have 2-3 minutes to present their proposal to the class.

   • Discussion.

5. Final Reflection (5 mins)

   • Conclude with a brief reflection, highlighting the importance of collective and individual action. Ask what they think they can do in their daily lives to help combat climate change.

EXTRA SUGGESTIONS

• Small Prize: Offer a symbolic prize for the team with the most creative solution.

• Extra Challenge: Ask students to think about how their solutions could be applied in the school or local community.

SUGESTION: Create Christmas trees decorated with flags from different European countries. At the top, place a star that alludes to the European Union flag. Shall we do it?

Our students took part in a workshop about air pollution and the overuse of plastic.

They worked in groups to learn more about these problems. They discussed what causes them, how they affect our planet, and what we can do to help.

Each group made a poster to show the problem and possible solutions. The posters included ideas like using less plastic, recycling, planting trees, and keeping the air clean.

This activity helped students understand these issues better and think about how they can make a difference.

4 - Based on the research, imagine (with AI tools' help) how the chosen monument would be in 300 years;

5 - Explain the differences between the monument, in 2025, and the monument in the future.
