  • This zone stretches from the ocean floor to the ocean’s deepest trenches
  • This zone includes the lowest parts of the ocean and organisms who live in these trenches require special adaptations to survive the pressure, lack of sunlight, and cool temperatures
  • For example, the angler fish has a bioluminescent bulb which attracts prey in the dark and this fish can extend its jaw and stomach to consume large prey(and stock up on food since it is scarce)
