This is a photo of young men protesting after losing their jobs. Men could not support their families because they were unemployed, so the whole family would starve. There was no work for the men to do, thus they could not care for their families.
https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2012/05/15/walkom_eurozone_crisis_signals_a_repeat_of_the_1930s.html

In this photo women are working in a Canadian factory, making bombshells. With men at war, women were able to work like the men do. They went from being domestic workers. This was good for women because they were finding a way to become equal and building on their women rights.
https://montrealgazette.com/sponsored/mtl-375th/from-the-archives-wartime-blackout-drill-caught-montreal-off-guard

This was a way for people to pay and invest. The government was capable of convincing people to buy the bonds. People that raised significant amounts of money were rewarded with a Victory Loan Honour Flag. This proves that the economy was changing, as people were excited to put money into the war. https://www.warmuseum.ca/firstworldwar/objects-and-photos/archival-documents/documents-created-by-organizations/stick-it-canada/

How did Canadians react to extreme problems in 1929 to 1945? In these 16 years, three extreme events happened in Canada which influenced and changed the economy. First, the stock market crashed which left people with financial problems. Therefore, this event was the beginning of the great depression. During this era, people were unemployed, and some were left with nothing. Lastly, WWII broke out. Women turned their work from taking care of their families to making bullets. During WWII the government sold victory bonds in order to pay for the war. This injected money into the economy and encouraged people to invest in the war. Canadians therefore were greatly influenced by these extreme problems.

In conclusion, these three extreme problems left Canadians struggling with poor economic times, but also allowed the economy to grow. During the time period 1929-1945 these major events took place had a direct impact on Canada. They were the stock market crash of 1929, the Great Depression and WWII. These events had a dramatic effect on the economy of Canada and the lessons learned from these events still have an influence on our world today.
