Share a reflection you had on the school year. What were some of the things that went well? What were some of the challenges we have faced during this school year? Considering school reopening, what supports do think you or the students will need for the upcoming school year? Do you have any questions you would like to share as it relates to the upcoming school year?

This School Year was filled with uncertainty and change, both within the classroom and within the world. There are so many students that I never saw face to face, and it's jarring that there are faces I won't immediately be able to put a name to. However, I know their voices, I know there little mannerisms as they type, I know their writing and how much they've grown and I find so much comfort and peace within that. Next year we have to be patient with students. They have to be not only academically challenged but also resocialized into the space of the classroom. Nevertheless, I am full of hope!

In preparation for the upcoming year, Students will need a great big welcome back. Our first day should be like a "BGHS homecoming" for them. Addressing their SEL and reintroducing new rituals and routines. Providing opportunities for them to reconnect with each other and teachers.

I think what went well was being able to still connect to many of my students. I was worried that remote learning would mean I could not get to know my students well. But many times, during class and after class, my students would stick around and keep asking questions, vent about their frustrations etc. However, many of my students had a hard time getting engaged online. I know they wanted to learn, and they expressed this to me outside of class, but they just could not get themselves to stay engaged online. I think the students (especially my 9th graders) will need some help acclimating to in person learning. My 9th graders didn't get a real high school experience yet and I think it would be great to add events etc.

There's a lot of connecting and healing work that needs to be prioritized.

We were able to quickly adapt to numerous changes and all worked so hard to ensure our students had best possible educational experience. Unfortunately, we were not all able to be there to see our students and interact personally. We will ALL need social/emotional care to ensure we heal from this trying year....

When I reflect on this past year I remember so many incredibly rich discussions and dialogues with my students, which have grown even more rich throughout the year as the students have built their understandings and skills. But I keep thinking about the students who are not participating, those students who rarely log in, or who log in but never participate, those students who we have to chase down for every assignment in the last few days of the marking period. I really worry about them because they haven't gotten the education they deserve this year. Next year, I hope those students will get the attention they need and that they won't be able to fade into the background anymore once they're actually present in the classroom. It's easy and important to celebrate successes and joyful moments but I am really haunted by those students who have not had a successful year due to factors nobody could control.

I appreciate the fact that I was able to build great relationships with my students and colleagues in spite of the 'new normal'. For the upcoming school year, I would like to continue and move forward on the path of building strong and solid relationships with both my students and colleagues and become a stronger educator. This year has made me a stronger educator! I look forward to creating a nurturing learning environment that is grounded in social emotional support; teaching students the importance of taking accountability and being patient as we navigate all of the changes that life is bringing our way. This school year was indeed challenging. I learned a lot about my students and myself. I appreciate the fact that I was still able to build great relationships with my students in spite of online learning. For the upcoming school year, I would like to continue and move forward on the path of building strong and solid relationships with both my students and colleagues. I look forward to
