A pilgrimage path leads to the hill above Braga and the church of Bom Jesus do Monte is built on it. A historic cable car leads to this place. The cable car is special in that it is powered by water. At the upper station, the water is filled into the tank in the bogie of the wagon and at the bottom it is drained again. It is one of several dozen such cable cars in the world.

A similar place of pilgrimage, near Bom Jesus do Monte, is called Sameiro. There is a large space around the church, under which there is an exposition of the history of Christianity.

The city itself has many monuments, mostly of a religious nature.
