For example she would have a paragraph then an important sentence separated from the paragraph followed by another important sentence.

“Jrue is the whitest black guy I know.”

I don’t think she knew that she was being racist. It was like it was her way of “complimenting” Jrue on how “polite” she found him, or how “articulate,” or how “intelligent.”

The quotation marks contributes to sarcastic tone how that person doesn't mean to compliment her husband, but only to make him as an ridicule. 

Also, the author describes uneventful things with descriptive words especially, her emotions, which help readers attach to the reading as if a real person, or friend sharing a story to us.

This article was about his black teammate who received racial injustice during their basketball season. This racism was towards a teammate Thabo Sefolosha. He was arrested late at night during one of their away games and had his leg broken. This caused him to be out the rest of the season and had an impact on his career. Kyle though when he first heard this news, his first thought was to doubt him. He explains that people should not jump to conclusions and keep their mind open to possibilities. Racism is another subject he touches upon. He explains that we should put respect on their name because of what they have done for the country and especially for the NBA. 75% of players are black. That is an overwhelming amount of players over whites or other races.
