What we can do:

• expose students to different cultures

• CCE, Stellar, SS resources to teach about other cultures

• pronounce the names of the students accurately by checking with the students on the first day of school

• make sure that the rest of the students can pronounce the names correctly and not make fun of any names

• celebrate achievements without reference to colour

• ask for permission before coming up with names to differentiate students with the same name

• teachers should not identify students by race (esp when they are gathered in a big group) 11/26 teachers voted for nametags to be brought back.

• teachers to make sure that students of minority races are given the opportunity to run errands

• teachers must make it known that they are scolding a student based on actions done not race

• teachers should role model by sitting with teachers from different races, teachers should be able to recite pledges in the different mother tongue languages
