         <description><![CDATA[<div>AI for medical purposes<br><br></div><div><strong>MoH uses robot for cardiac surgeries<br></strong><br></div><div>In 2014, Ministry of Health and Prevention declared <a href="http://www.mohap.gov.ae/en/MediaCenter/News/Pages/1336.aspx">the launch of its first robot to conduct catheterisation and cardiac surgeries</a>, all through computerised systems. The system was installed in Al Qasimi Hospital to start the first surgery in June 2014.</div><div><br></div><div>In 2018, Ministry of Health and Prevention provided Al Qasimi Hospital with a new robotic device to conduct complicated catheterisation and cardiac surgeries. Based on very high technology, the robot can store up to 35,000 medicines and dispense around 12 prescriptions in less than one minute, using barcodes of each medicine.<br><br></div><div><strong>Medopad app for good health</strong></div><div>The <a href="http://www.mohap.gov.ae/en/MediaCenter/News/Pages/2036.aspx">Medopad app</a> from Ministry of Health and Prevention tracks the most important daily activities of patients, monitors patient’s vital signs remotely and helps the medical care teams to provide better care by remotely documenting, analysing and reviewing their data and information. The app uses artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to predict or detect life-threatening medical conditions. It has several educational and awareness content to assist patients under pre and post-operative care and those with cancer, multiple sclerosis, kidney and heart diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Parkinson’s and others diseases.</div><div>Robots for public services<br><br></div><div><strong>Robot policeman<br></strong><br></div><div>In May 2017, Dubai Police employed the world’s first operational <a href="http://wam.ae/en/details/1395302615076">robot policeman</a>, who officially joined the line of duty and greeted guests at the opening of the 4th Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference (GISEC).<br><br></div><div>The autonomous Robocop stands 170 centimetres tall and weighs 100 kilograms. It is equipped with an emotion detector which can recognise gestures and hand signals from up to 1.5 metres away. The Robocop can also detect a person's emotions and facial expressions – whether the individual is happy, sad, or smiling - and has the ability to change his expression and greetings accordingly to put people at ease. RoboCop can also transmit and communicate in six languages including Arabic and English. Additionally, the robot can chat and interact, respond to public queries, shake hands and offer a military salute.<br><br></div><div><strong>A robot to save lives on Dubai beaches<br></strong><br></div><div>Dubai Municipality uses robots to help save lives on the beaches of Dubai. The new addition is the most state-of-art technology used in the safety system of the municipality. The robots are designed to withstand the worst climatic conditions. They can be used in the event of high waves or heavy ocean currents that are difficult for human lifeguards to conduct rescue operations. One robot is capable of saving four to five people at the same time.<br><br></div><div><strong>Robots to serve customers<br></strong><br></div><div>In November 2014, Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (formerly known as Emirates Identity Authority) launched <a href="https://www.ica.gov.ae/en/media-centre/news/2014/11/8/robot-hamad-sworn-in-before-emirates-id-employees.aspx?DisableResponsive=1">the robot Hamad</a> to serve customers in its happiness centers all over the country. The robot Hamad provides many services, like receiving ID renewal applications, identifying ID card status, and updating personal information of customers.<br><br></div><div><strong>Robots to produce car licence plates<br></strong><br></div><div>Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai integrated <a href="http://wam.ae/en/details/1395302754968">a robot-operated vehicle registration plate maker</a> in Dubai. The fully-automated machine can produce 33,000 plates per day. A robot receives electronic printing orders via the e-Licensing System and begins to print registration plates without any human intervention.<br><br></div><div><strong>Robots to clean Dubai Metro stations<br></strong><br></div><div>RTA uses robots also to clean Dubai Metro stations. The purpose of using the robotic cleaner is to reduce consumption of water required for traditional cleaning and provide deliberate sterilisation.<br><br></div><div><strong>Online advisor for living in Dubai<br></strong><br></div><div><a href="https://www.smartdubai.ae/">Smart Dubai</a> launched the <a href="https://rashid.ae/LifeEvents/">Rashid chatbot</a>, which uses artificial intelligence to offer official and reliable answers to customers’ questions regarding the necessary procedures, documents, and requirements to conduct various transactions. This is the result of the partnership between several government departments.<br><br></div><div>Robotic contests<br><br></div><div><strong>Largest global robotics challenge<br></strong><br></div><div>Dubai will host the <a href="https://www.dubaifuture.gov.ae/dubai-host-first-global-robotics-year/">First Global Robotics Challenge</a>, an annual international robotics competition for young students from 25 to 27 October 2019. Organised by the Dubai Future Foundation under the theme <a href="https://www.dubaifuture.gov.ae/firstglobal-dubai/">‘Ocean Opportunities’</a>, the 2019 version of the First Global Challenge focuses on developing robots to clean up the millions of tons of pollutants in the oceans produced mainly by factories, mismanaged sewage systems and marine activities, which adversely affect marine life and the environment.<br><br></div><div><a href="https://first.global/fgc/">First Global</a>, a not-for-profit public charity, organises a yearly international robotics challenge to ignite a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among more than two billion youths across the world. More than 2,000 students aged 14 to 18 from 193 countries including the UAE will join the event.<br><br></div><div>At the 7th World Government Summit in Dubai, the UAE won the bid to host the First Global Robotics Challenge. This is the first time that FIRST Global will be held in the UAE or in any country in the Arab region after previous editions being held in the US and Mexico. <br><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Dubai Police, during its participation in the activities of the Dubai Future Week organized by the Dubai Future Foundation, demonstrated a virtual simulator developed at the Center for Virtual Technologies in the Dubai Police, to avoid the dangers they may be exposed to while performing their duties.<br><br> The rescue robot carries out the tasks assigned to it, but the control operations remain in the hands of humans, through the simulator, which allows the required task to be completed as quickly, safely and more accurately.<br><br> First Lieutenant Abdul Rahman bin Fahd, Head of Scenario Design at Dubai Police, said in a statement received by the Future Observatory, that “The device is characterized by the possibility of using it for all ages, and it consists of a robot, a screen and a virtual vision glasses that enables the user to control the robot in a similar way  In the drones, while the device includes an Arabic and English language interface.<br><br> “The new device was developed internally by police cadres specialized in developing educational, awareness and training games, and 2D and 3D animation films,” he added.  He needs a period of time to enter active service.<br><br> He added, "The new device is related to how accurately the robotics technology performs the rescue mission drawn, according to the program, but until then, one of the important aspects of this device is to engage the public with the Dubai Police’s vision of the future use of robots, and to benefit from their opinions and surveys."</div>]]></description>
