Instead of just telling her story in the order of the events that they happened, she mixed up stories that she's heard from the past and her own personal experiences and memories. Not only the order of events played a role in the organization, but also the graphics. In many cases, it allowed the author to talk/explain through the graphics. The message of the book was able to be shown through the organization because if it was only told from Marji's perspectives then we wouldn't be able to understand the social classes very well. When you are in the perspective of someone that is experiencing poverty,you can understand at a deeper level what is really happening and what it feels like to be that person. When it says "I know that Mehri pretends to be my daughter, in reality she is my maid," it shows how ashamed Mehri was to be a maid (in the lower class). She felt so ashamed that she lied to her boyfriend. She later learns that her boyfriend would never have dated her if he knew her real social class when he says, "Do you still want to continue seeing her? When she says "I felt ashamed to sit in my father's cadillac," Marji feels a sense of shame to be in a higher social class because she knows how many people have it worse than her. She was able to finally understand what social classes do to people. In this graphic, you can see the true pain and sadness that Mehri was going through at this time. Her boyfriend broke up with her when he found out she was a maid. Through this photo, you feel a lot more empathetic towards Mehri, whereas you would feel as much if you just read that she was sad.
