Kendrick Lamar Duckworth was Born in Compton, California on June 17th, 1987. As a child, he would write stories about the rough life that he went through during his child. When he was 5, Kendrick witnessed a teenage drug dealer shot outside of his apartment building. These are the types of situations that inspired his music and poetic lyricism. After writing stories as a child, he began his music career. Rapping under the name "Kdot", Kendrick started to produce music about the rough childhood he went through growing up in Compton. These included three mix tapes titled, "Y.H.N.I.C.(Hub City Threat: Minor of the Year)", "Training Day", and "C4." The release of these mix tapes brought attention from rap legend Dr. Dre. However, it wasn't until the release of Kendrick's first album "good kid, m.A.A.d. City", that kick started the career of Kendrick Lamar. He then went on to release "To Pimp A Butterfly", and "DAMN.", which both won Grammys for Best Rap Album. Meanwhile, DAMN. broke history and became the first rap artist to win a Pulitzer Prize. In 2022, Kendrick dropped his most recent album, "Mr. Morale And The Big Steppers"(MMATBS), which marked his final project with Top Dawg Entertainment(TDE)

I have been listening to Kendrick Lamar since I was about 12 years old. In the 6th grade I was spamming the album DAMN, and it was my favorite album at the time. Throughout the last 6 years, he's always been on my playlist for any mood i'm into. His last album Mr. Morale And the Big Steppers, came out a few years ago while I was in school, and I loved listening to it with my friends for the first time.

#Comptonmade #multiawardwinner #MMATBS #DAMN.

Lyric Analysis

The song I chose for my Lyric Analysis was "Pride" by Kendrick Lamar. The song talks about how nobody in life is perfect, and how we should accept our flaws and who we are.

" See in a perfect world I would be perfect, world". In this line, Kendrick is talking about how he is not perfect, just like nobody else is perfect in this world. Even though we all wish to be perfect, it is an impossible accomplishment.

" Love's gonna get you killed. But Pride gonna be the death of you." In this line, Kendrick speaks about how while we should all have self respect, and we should all have self love in our lives, too much pride get take advantage of you and cause you to hurt the ones that you love.

"I can't fake humble just cuz your ass is insecure" In this line, Kendrick talks about how he knows who he is, and his worth, and won't change that for anybody around him. He won't pretend to be someone he's not, for anyone.

Overall, the song talks about a lot of self reflection, and self worth, while also discussing the problem that too much pride can destroy anyone's relationship.

#PRIDE #SELFLOVE #REFLECTION #IMPERFECTLYPERFECT

The song I chose for my inspirational post, was "LOVE." by Kendrick Lamar feat. Zacari. The song talks about different types of relationships and the struggles that come with maintaining them. The song means a lot to me because going through the last 5 years, and being able to listen to the song throughout every year, each time I listen to it I feel like I understand it more. Kendrick talks about losing everything he has, in return of asking to keep the love that was always there. Sometimes I feel like I get ran for my money a lot in situations. When I dont have money to spend, I see less invites to link or hang out. I feel that when I don't have things that benefit other people, I am not useful to them in their lives. Kendrick also talks about the stereotypes put on a man in a relationship, and talks about how he can't complain or argue, and that at the end of the day he will always be there. In past situations and even today, I see everywhere how poorly some people can be treated in a relationship. I was in a 2 year relationship that I was used constantly and treated terribly. I could never argue or say anything without the blame and yelling directed at me at the end of the day. When it ended, it severely affected my mental health and still does to an extent, in small amounts though. One of my closest friends went through the same thing, where he was treated so badly I almost lost him. And it is unfortunate because I see the same situations happening over and over again throughout my daily life. But, everytime I see something or go through something that reminds me of these past situations, I play this song and it gets easier.

#LOVE #WORTH? #ZACARI #struggle #mentalheath

Kendrick Lamar was born in Compton, CA on June 17, 1987. Growing up, he dealt with gang violence and shootings a lot in his neighborhood. His parents moved to escape crime in Chicago, but instead moved to a high crime city in California. He often relates/recognizes the place he came from and the place that raised him. For Example, in the song "Element", Kendrick states multiple times that he does what he does for Compton.

#COMPTONPROUD #cityimfrom #origins #CALI

He wears a lot of snakeskin boots, crochet knits, shredded Japanese denim, many puffer jackets, and a lot of other top

brand clothing makers too. He also owns a lot of Gucci, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton clothing as well, which is expensive clothing.

#bigspender #momoneynoproblems #LouisV #FASHIONSTAR

Kendrick Lamar has used visuals/arts/ designs through his music videos, live performances, and concerts. For example, in his appearance on Top Dawg Entertainment's current championship special, Kendirck worked hard to make an appearance of "LA on Fire." He wanted it to look aesthetic, but strong at the same time. Kendrick also uses imagery to express important things in his childhood. For Example, on good kid, m.A.A.d city, Kendrick has his mother's van which tells the story of his child hood. On To Pimp a Butterfly, it emasculates self hate, love self worth, and diversity going on in America. Kendrick continues to use his past, while keeping up with the present, in all of his visual works.

#BORNARTIST #WHEREIMFROM #FAMILY

#ART
