His videos showcase many riders from different backgrounds and disciplines, and the culture of cycling in different countries.

For example, in Family Fortunes, I was made aware that, despite having done many tests, there were huge jumps between them where I didn’t explain or make clear my motives and decisions. I need to improve at showing my references and experimenting as a result of them. I’d also like to move away from simple tests with generic materials, as in FMP I will have a lot more time to focus on my ideas and outcomes. I also think allowing my experimentation to lead my project as opposed to my ideas of what I want to finish with, is something that is really hard to consciously overcome, but that would be beneficial to master. In doing this I think I would instantly have a much broader range of ideas, work and possibilities, and would absolutely finish FMP with something far more sophisticated than if I planned my whole process.

I can feel how much I’ve improved over the course of the last few months, but I feel like I haven’t had a chance to hone the skills I’ve learnt. I want to use FMP to stretch out my abilities and be considerate with everything I do, especially with my experimentation.

 I wanted to make a typology of bikes/cyclists, but I also wanted to explore hovercrafts. I did a brief dive into the history of hovercrafts but decided it wasn’t for me. I found that much too engineering based and also didn’t have that much depth beyond its brief history. I was lost for ideas, but then during Family Fortunes, I became interested in maps and cartography, and decided that I could explore that for my FMP. However, I realised that despite the world of maps being so huge, I might run out of ideas, and/or passion, so as a result, I went back to looking at bikes, only this time I was looking at the subject as a whole. I was happy with how broad of a subject area it is, and now felt confident that I couldn’t possibly run out of ideas, but it was pointed out in my FMP presentation that it was much too broad of a subject to cover, and that I needed to find an area to question and focus on. I am now focusing on the culture of bikes and cycling, specifically through different disciplines and geographical areas.
