George is the smarter one while Lennie is a little dumb. Lennie has gotten a lot of problems drawn to the duo in their past jobs. Lennie has a weird fetish for petting dogs, cats, bunnies, and women.
When they show up to the farm, they find their rooms and meet this mean guy named Curley, the farm owners son. Curley's wife comes in the barn later (not knowing the dog's death) and lets Lennie pet her hair. Just like the dog, he gets too comfortable and kills her. He leaves her in the barn and runs away for that he knows people will be looking for the killer. George knows it's Lennie and tries to think of where Lennie would go. He is more outgoing and is friends with most of the people in the farm, except for Curley. George  is more outgoing but is mean to Lennie. He is only mean to Lennie just to get his point across so they don't get fired. He got kicked in the face by a horse when he was younger. When he grew up, his aunt gave him to work with George. Lennie is the muscles part of the duo. Curley tried to punch him and Lennie grabbed his hand and squeezed it til it bled. 

Not only is Lennie strong, but he is really tall. Lennie likes to pet soft things. That's from fuzzy rabbits to women's hair. 
He has killed many animals and scared a girl on the previous far when he tried to pet her dress. She didn't know that he has a very dull mind. When they got to the farm, George told Lennie not to talk because he didn't know what was going to come out of his mouth.

As you have probably saw or will see that Lennie is very dumbfounded. The owner of the farm wouldn't want a dumb person working on his farm and messing up. So George wants Lennie to keep his mouth shut so Lennie doesn't say anything stupid or any secrets to people. 

 The second conflict is when Curley's wife tries to talk to the workers because she loves talking to them behind Curley's back. The guys don't want to get punished or fired so they don't talk to her. They say she is really beautiful so it is hard for them to talk to her.

The third conflict is that they are poor so they want to work and then make their own farm with rabbits. The guys want to own a farm when they get enough money but George can see how that won't happen with Lennie's personality.
