The earthquake caused the entire weakened north face of the mountain to slide away, creating the largest landslide ever recorded.   • Ancestral stages of eruptive activity: The first eruptions, called Spirit Lake Stage, took place from 40.000 to 8.000 years ago.
  • After sleeping for 4.000 years, a volcano stage called “The Smith Creek and Pine Creek eruptive periods” started.
  • The new era called Castle Creek and Sugar Bowl eruptive periods started around 400BCE, putting an end to the previous one.
  • The Kalama and Goat Rock periods go from 1480 until 1980, when the latest eruption took place.
  • The modern eruptive period goes from the eruption in 1980 until nowadays.
