Today we had our first ever production meeting for 'Rock and a Hard Place'. We discussed various aspects of the production, such as; locations (IE: Church, Library), roles and shooting times, make-up artists and casting, kit checklist. We established that a pre-production meeting either would take place on WhatApp's call every Wednesday until the shoot started on the 12th of March, or it would take place in person in class on fridays. This was my decision to plan the meetings and make it every Wednesday.

February 5th

Today we had our second production meeting for 'Rock and a Hard Place'. We discussed shooting locations for the school scenes (Scenes 2, 3, 5). Casting auditions are set to take place on the 12th of February, a week from now. Paperwork was discussed, everyone knows what needs to be done.

7th February

Today we had a production meeting in person and not on WhatsApp call. James Van Looy contacted 3 actors and is starting to organise a rehearsal. Jack Newall, the director, addressed the absences from Jack Gibb, Brooklyn Baker, and Calum Telford. He contacted them all directly and addressed them about their absences and the paperwork that needs to be done. Jack Newall has completed the floor plan and the rest of the group has started their paperwork.

14th February

Today we had a production meeting in person. Jack Newall and James Van Looy contacted Freya, David and Lewis. Freya will be playing Maya, David will be Jay and Lewis will be playing the priest. The boss will be played by Adam, a friend from Brooklyn's previous course. Either Molly or Amy have gotten back yet for role of the librarian. Film schedule and tramlines will be finished today. Costume and props were discussed with the production designer Robbie.

Everyone was present expect from Calum (Script Supervisor).

26th February

Today we had a production meeting, the acting crew were also present for this meeting for the first time. I organised this meeting. Everyone involved in the production was present. We established that the first day of shooting would take place 2 weeks from now (Wednesday 12th). We discussed many of the costumes that we needed during filming. I answered questions about the production from the actors and showed good enthusiasm and social skills. We also addressed the paperwork that still needed to be completed.

March 7th

Today was our last ever production meeting for ‘Rock and a Hard Place’. We established what days we would be filming in each location and what scenes we would be filming in each location. We also discussed how we would get there and how we would transport the kit to and from filming locations. Robbie (Production designer) has gotten all the costumes needed for filming. Jack N and Briagh still need to get make-up artists for everyday for filming, expect from 14th as we already have someone.

Everyone in the production crew is present expect from Brooklyn (2nd AD) and Calum (Script Supervisor). The meeting has been recorded and can be found on the Padlet.

12th March

Today we filmed scenes 1, 9, 10, 12 and 13 at Jack Gibb's (DOP) House. Freya White is playing Maya and David Wilson is playing Jay. I attached both microphones to the actors and set their audio levels appropriately, making sure there was no red/peaking. I used the tentacle syncs to sync the timecodes together. I made sure the audio levels were in-between the green and yellow and not the red, however there is some scratching that can be heard in the audio. The scratching was from the microphones rubbing on their clothes. The scratching is very minimal but I will learn from this mistake and ensure there is no scratching in the audio next time I do sound mixing. Overall, I showed good social skills and good practical skills on set when setting up the audio levels on both actors.

13th March

Today we filmed scenes 15, 17, 19 and 20 at Jack Gibb’s House. I showed good social and communication skills on set and communicated well with the actors and crew on set. I got the actors to perform several sound checks to comfirm that the sound levels are right. I also asked the director to confirm if he was okay with the sound and he said it was good. Overall, the filming in this location went really well.

March 14th

Today we filmed scenes 3 and 6 in the studio hall in the college. No sound was needed. However, I still contributed to the set by fetching items that were important to the set. I showed good and professional etiquette on set. I was good natured and polite on set and listened and followed the directors instructions at all times. During pre-production, I made risk assessments for all the locations that were used during filming. I reminded everyone on set of the health and healthly risks, such as cables, to ensure no one got hurt.

March 20th

Today we filmed scenes 2, 5, 11, 14, 16 and 18 inside the college today. This involved putting the microphones on the actors, setting up the correct audio levels, and following health and safety code.

March 21st

Today we filmed scene 4 at the Mitchell Library and scene 8 at the St Patrick's RC Church. Sound wasn't required for scene 4, however I still helped to set up kit and maintained good, professional behaviour on set. I also made sure everyone was safe and there was no risk on set (IE: tripping up on wires). I used 3 different microphones as there was 3 different actors on set for recording sound during the church scene, and I adjusted the sound quality so it was clear and not peaking. When we arrived back to college we filmed scene 7.

March 26th

Today, we started the editing process. My role was offline editor. I started and completed scenes 1 to 6 today. I made them into rough cuts and then final cuts. Some were easier than others as some scenes were filmed in only 1 take.

I had to go to a university interview, so unfortunately I couldn't finish editing. However, I warned the director about this and he did the rest of the scenes for me. Jack Newell (Director) did scenes 18 to 20. He also included the calendar scenes and added them to the relevant scenes.
