I feel like the character didn’t think the paw was important because he didn’t know what the value of the paw was. Like he didn’t care and threw up on a cabinet. The imagery indicated is the part of the sorry that says, “The dirty, dried-up” and “In the brightness of the wintry sun”. It helps it build by setting the tone about the paw showing the carelessness and how it was just put to the side
