         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Most uinversities we know don't have mentoring programs. People need to developing mentoring relationships outside the academia environment.<br>2. There needs to be more attention to multiculturalism and to students that come from a non-traditional background. It is important to have good personal relationships with mentors. Many professors are not approachable and that is a barrier for developing potential.<br>3. Mentors need to be more available. It would be good to have indigenous peoples in the teams. We also could have mentoring programs with experts from different fields.<br>4. Interactions/activities outside the academic environment to foster relationships. Regular exchange of ideas.&nbsp;<br>5. Financial issues and dissonance between university's and students' time-frame (e.g. phds last from 3-5 years, but universities are slower in making change)</div>]]></description>
