1776- On July sixth, New York declared its idependence
1785-1790- New York City is the capitol of the USA
1827- NYC outlawed slavery
1886- The Statue of Liberty is placed in New York City
1931- The Empire State Building is compleated
1952-  NYC is made the permenant host of the UN
2001- On September 11th, a terrorist attack destroyed the twin towers and the world trade center
