In our society today, media is subjecting teens and children to increasing violence. The question at the center of this controversy is whether or not the theatrical violence in video games, movies, and television is creating a more violent reality as our country's youth matures.   • Tip-toe into the introduction and include the controversy, the background, the "players"...
  • Claim- dabatable, defensible, and nuanced if possible!
  • Transition sentence to start paragraph and transition words to start most sentences!
  • Evidence! Cite where it came from, who wrote it, and WHY that person is CREDIBLE!
  • Then, extend, illustrate, or counter!!
  • Make sure you have a 2-to-1 or 3-to-1 ratio when it comes to commentary vs. quoted or paraphrased evidence from a source.
  • Conclusion!! Make it strong, provide solutions, state the importance, and give a call to action!
