  • Today is my first day of internship at Pusat Sejahtera Universiti Sains Malaysia. My working hours start from 8.10am to 5.10pm.
  • When I reach Pusat Sejahtera USM, i have to report at the kaunter rujukan. After, the staff shows me to second floor of Pusat Sejahtera USM. I report to the Unit Pentadbiran, Pusat Sejahtera USM. 
  • Director of Pusat Sejahtera USM, Dr. Nomala make a simple briefing about Pusat Sejahtera to me. 
  • After the briefing, Dr. Nomala introduced me to Pn. Azima, Supervisor Nurse. 
  • Pn. Azima introduce me to the staff and the treatment room such as Dental unit. 
  • My lunch hour is 1pm to 2 pm. Pusat Sejahtera will be closed at this moment. After lunch hour, I started to search some information related to health such as Hemodialysis.

  • Today is my second day as a student for internship in Pusat Sejahtera, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
  • I reach Pusat Sejahtera at 7.40am, as the working hours starts at 8.10am, I reach earlier to make some preparation of the job and discuss with the supervisor who is Puan Azima Hassan
  • Puan Azima tell me some idea related to the Haemodialysis Centre in Pusat Sejahtera, however the centre provide the service to the staff of USM, thus it does not generate any income to the Pusat Sejahtera.
  • I share and give some suggestion related to my business study in the previous semester. Puan Azima agree with that and ask me to do a business plan of the Haemodialysis Centre in Pusat Sejahtera, USM.
  • She hope that Haemodialysis Centre could provide the treatment and service to the outsiders as well as generate some income.
  • During the lunch hour, I well spent with my colleagues in the pantry by sharing some story in Kelantan, by coincidence, some of my colleagues are from Kelantan.

  • As a third day of internship at Pusat Sejahtera, Universiti Sains Malaysia, I reached Pusat Sejahtera at 7.30am. At 7.50am we start to do TaiChi besides the area of Pusat Sejahtera. It takes about 20 minutes and then we start to work. 
  • I continued with my task that given by my supervisor who is Puan Azima. She is on leave today however, Puan Khadijah has teached me a lot today.
  • Business Plan of Haemodialysis Centre is important to Pusat Sejahtera, USM as a generator to gain more income for the organizations. 
  • Besides that, the aim to improve and expansion of Haemodialysis Centre is to increase public access to the centre in Pusat Sejahtera. 
  • In the Business Plan, when mention for the company summary, I learned a lot related to the exterior and interior design of a Haemodialysis Centre. There are many considerations need to be considered when operating a Haemodialysis Centre.

  • As a 5th day of internship at Pusat Sejahtera, Universiti Sains Malaysia, as usual we start to do TaiChi besides the area of Pusat Sejahtera. 
  • As before, I continued with my task that given by my supervisor. 
  • Today, I help the patient in the screening department. I take their blood pressure and temperature. The normal blood pressure is 120/80 and the pulse rate is between 60 to 100 a beats in a minute. The normal body temperature is 36.7 ˚C. If the patient's body temperature is higher than that, it can be considered as having fever.

  • As the 2nd week of the internship, today I pratical in the unit pentadbiran. Puan Nurabya teached me about the ‘Skim Perubatan Kakitangan USM’. 
  • Employees Medical Scheme USM is to manage all medical facilities as contained in the scheme and also the Medical Staff Service Circular No. 1 of 1993 to the staff and family (husband / wives, children, stepchildren, adopted children, parents). Medical facilities are available in all government hospitals, University Hospital, Center for Health and Clinical Panel USM. Treatment in private hospitals is not allowed unless the Government Hospital referral and approval of the Vice-Chancellor.
  • The requirement of Employees Medical Scheme is all permanent staff, temporary and contract and their eligible dependents may receive medical facility in accordance with the rules of the Medical Staff Services Scheme USM.
  • Besides that, I also learned about the filling of the Employees Medical Scheme USM. It is divided into Institut Jantung Negara, Dialysis Treatment, Refund Claim, Travel Claims and Suppliers.

  • Today, I continue with the task for the Refund Claim of  USM staff and their dependent. Normally, the clinic will sent the Refund Form to the admin. department of Pusat Sejahtera after a week. For example, the January Refund Claim Form will sent  in the February or later. Poliklinik Penawar is one of the clinic panel selected by USM. 
  • I have to do on the total of Refund Claim of staff and dependent from January to December 2016. The total of panel pharmacy is the largest amount among others. The staff, pensioner, dependent can claim their medicine under the Skim Perubatan USM. 
  • Shooting video is one of the special thins that I have learned. Blood Donation is the activity organized by Pusat Pengajian Pendidikan Jarak Jauh (PPPJJ) in 24 February 2016 in USM. Pusat Sejahtera is the co-organizaer of this event. 
  • ***In the promoting video of the blood donation, I play as a patient who is treated by our director, Dr. Nomala and assisted by our supervisor, Matron Azima Hassan. 
  • Blood is meant to circulate to pass it around!!!

  • E-fast system software is one of the important lesson that I have learned for today. 
  • This system is being used by the  staff in USM to handle regarding with the purchasing, delivery and others.
  • Each staff will be using one ID to enter into to the account. I am using Pn. Hamidah's ID to do for the purchase requisition. 
  • The purchase requisition is used to make purchase on medicine, refund claim, supplier, travel refund claim, assets and also miscellaneous item such as stationery in the office. 
  • TaiChi is a strong positive mental attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drugs.

  • My job task for today is to key in the data of Dengue Questionnaire. 
  • In my observation while key in the data of the questionnaire, I find that the understanding about the Dengue information of the respondents is moderate. 
  • Many of the respondents can't answer the correct choice related to the question (Common breeding sites of the mosquito). About 98% of the respondents answered that stagnant dirty water is the common breeding sites of the mosquitoes. However, it is the wrong answer. The common breeding sites is stagnant clean water. 
  • Besides that, one of question that respondents commonly answer incorrectly is Cure for Dengue Fever. Actually, there is no cure for Dengue Fever. 
  • Dengue is now one of the most important tropical diseases. 
  • Everyone has the responsibility in mosquito control!!!

  • Today I get involved in the event "JOM MASUK PPPJJ". PPPJJ is Pusat Pengajian Pendidikan Jarak Jauh in USM. Pusat Sejahtera plays the role in collaboration to give Health Screening to the guest.
  • Health Screening includes measurement of weight and height, blood pressure test sugar blood test and consultation from Doctor Shazwani. 
  • Pn. Nurbaya and I help the guest to register in the Health Screening. After that, they will be guided to the first station (Measurement of weight & height), second station (Blood pressure test), third station (Blood sugar test) and last station is consultation from doctor. 
  • After finished the process of the health screening, they will came back to the register counter to record their health status as a record of Pusat Sejahtera. 
  • This event will run for 2 days from 24/2/2017 to 25/2/2017.

  • I have to identify and fill in the category and section of the file. The title is the name of the staff and the version is Jilid 1. 
  • I have to make sure the date of last document and the date of closed the file. Normally the date of the lsat document is 5 years ago. The person in charge for the closed file is me (Lim Qiu Yi). 
  • After filled in the information of file, I have to put a "CLOSED" sticker in front of the file to make sure it is a closed file. 
    The file will be closed permanently in cases of reference. 
  • I list out the detail of the closed file.

  • There are many types of file have to be closed permanently. The categories and section for file before is personal. Today the catogories and sections of the file is policy. I have differentiate it because file with green color is policy and yellow color is personal. 
  • The last document of the file that I closed permanently is 5-10 years ago.
  • After filled in all the info of the file and put the "CLOSED" sticker, I arrange the file according to the alphabet.  
  • I keep the closed file on the rak of Bilik Kompaktus. I have to put them accroding to their type such as yellow file and green file. By doing this way, it would easy for others to make reference without any inconvenience.

  • I am using E-Fas to update it. 
  • I need to key in the document no., delivery days, element code, supplier code and remarks. In the details of purchase requisition, I need to key in the item code, unit price, quantity, unit of measure, activity and remarks. 
  • After that, I have to check the budget for all whether there are sufficient budget for it. I also need to make sure the total amount no. is same with the invoice that we have received.

  • The Dialysis Centre will send the invoice to Pusat Sejahtera for the process of payment back. 
  • As we know, all the staff and dependent of USM are under the Medical Scheme. 
  • So, when they get dialysis treatment and injection of EPO/ Eprex/ Recormon, they get claim for it.  
  • The dialysis centre normally will combine the invoice for a month in a invoice. 
  • After that, we have to process for the purchase requisition before the payment is made.

  • Today, Pusat Sejahtera held a workshop on Infection and Contagious Disease Control. There are about 37 participants from Institut Perubatan dan Pergigian Termaju (USM) Bertam and Pusat Sejahtera. The workshop starts from 9am to 4pm. 
  • I help the participants to register in Bilik Ibn Sina before the workshop is started. They have to register for morning session and afternoon session. Dr. Ananda is the main speaker of the workshops. SN Hadijah, SN Looi, MA Saiful and MA Ridhwan are also the speaker of the workshop.

  • Today I do on the invoice registration of the suppliers. 
  • Firstly, insert the number of purchase order. After that, go to the invoice information of the purchase order. 
  • Then, I need to edit the invoice detail. I need to key in the invoice number and invoice date of the invoice given by the suppliers. 
  • I need to send the invoice to PTJ of USM and make sure the invoice is undergoing approval.
  • Lastly, I will make sure the document is sent from PTJ to Treasury of USM.  
  • One of the best food I have eaten during the internship is Roti Jala mixed with Curry Chicken. 
  • One of the Penang famous Malay food is Nasi Le Murni.

  • Sejahtera Walk is one of the event held by Pusat Sejahtera in every month. Students and staff of USM are welcomed to join this event. Participants walk around the surroundings of USM. 
  • Walking is cheap, fun, safe and acceptable exercise.

  • Klinik Zalfah, Klinik Sentosa- Bayan Baru, Klinik Aman (24Jam) & Cawangan Jln Dato Keramat sent the refund claim treatment form to Pusat Sejahtera to make their refund claim. 
  • After checking the fee of each treatment, I calculate and make sure the total of the refund claim of each clinic. 
  • I also check the old stock of stationery. It can prevent over order of the stationery item.
