I believe that They could've gone through many wars that affected their population as a group; not having as big as a population to get work done or have an efficient army..They also have the "Blue Hole" . It's extremely unlikely that they drowned. Because don't you think if they've been surrounded by water the majority of their life wouldn't they go into the water at least once to get food and have to swim ?! Having a drought is highly unreasonable as well. When going through each video given to us in the slides each location looked green and tropical in some sort. Don't you think it rained? California has spent years without rain, and it eventually does rain here. In the blue hole video, though they said they "Believed" that drought caused the fall or the Maya's but it doesn't actually say that's what happened. It's a theory. It also says the rain "piled up" so obviously, there was some sort of water there so there shouldn't have been a drought. To conclude, I believe because of the fall of the king , money currency they had, and the amount of violent wars.

I believe that the Mayans vanished do to drought, my philosophy begins with saying that on the Yucatan peninsula the Mayans experienced many years of living on lush fertile ground, but when a drought came it completely wiped out all of fertile ground as well as the crops that were being grown. Once this happened all of the cities in the Yucatan peninsula did not any more have a surplus of food. do to this the once great abundance of trading came to a halt. As a result this started an economic collapse that threw all of the cities into chaos and destruction, many of the lower ranked Mayans most likely rebelled because of the economic collapse which meant that there was lots of bloody fights that left only a few Mayans remaining so the surviving Mayans went to live in smaller towns.

I personally think that the Mayans had many different causes for their disappearance. To begin, the first reason why the Mayans left is the "Blue Hole". I believe that this is one of the reasons the Mayans disappeared is because it was sucking in water and caused a drought. Furthermore, the second reason is that they had many wars. I believe this because in the text that was given to us on our slide show it says, " Among Copan's most famous ruler was Gopher, who was eventually captured by forces from archrival Quiriqua, a Maya city downstream that battled with Copan over long-distance trade routes. Recent excavations at Copan have revealed a residential area for the cities nobles, including the home of the scribe who seem to have been the relative of the king." I believe that this means when the king was captured that the city fled. In conclusion, I think that many things lead up to the cause of the Mayans disappearance. Although I believe that there were many things to cause the Mayans to leave, war and lack of water are the top to reasons why I believe that the Mayans fled/disappeared.

In my personal opinion, after reading different historical facts about the Mayans disappearance I strongly believe that they disappeared because of the major drought. The Mayans had plethora of food and crops and they as well had very fertile land, but as soon as the drought started happening they started to lose all their crops and livestock. This caused different types of conflicts all around the Mayans. Some cities were running out of food and other important resources, and others still had plenty but not for long. The Mayans were still not getting enough water which affected everyone and caused them all to vanish and find another place to settle in. All of their food supply had ran out and this all affected the trade as well. People didn't really have a reason to stay so they disappeared out of the Mayans.

In the sources provided by Mr. Alarcio it says that they had great big oceans and a gulf besides them, but they didn't have enough consuming water. Many people have very distinct theories , but mine matches up with what scientist believe is evidence. I believe, that the Mayans disappeared because of their drought, which is now just known as the "blue hole", because they say that the sediment that was drilled matched up with the Mayan times. The "Blue Hole" was a big hole on the bottom of the ocean sucking in all of the Mayan water causing a huge major drought killing off a ton of Mayans. The theory I think happened to the Mayans was that there was a big flood because their city was in between two rivers. So those two rivers killed many people. The Mayans didn't want that to happen again so they had to leave to a new area for a new city. The other theory I had was there could've been another village/city and attacked their city. And then they had to go to a different place so the would get attacked.

I think it could probably have been that the animals in the place they were at could have migrated somewhere else and the Mayan's could have went that way too but since they grew crops and didn't hunt the drought that scientists had discovered could have made it hard for their crops to grow and they had to adapt somewhere else probably.
