The agency believes in team power and is proud to be composed of people with different backgrounds. Architects, designers, engineers and artist from different countries and cultures join consistently their knowledge toward one goal: to create the best project possible.

We don’t have a pyramidal organisation in our agency but are five associated with the same power. We believe that everyone can find a job opportunity and can bring it to the entire team to be discussed over. The project will then be done by one or several members, but everyone can and surely will make a contribution. For us, it is a way to work on a same project with different professional point of view and therefore make it even better.

To explain our way of working, we like to talk about the first project we did as a team. It was a museum project in Rodez, Aveyron, France. It is called the “Musée Solange” and is the most interesting final product of all our combined work.

I’m doing a Master in Civil Engineering in INSA Strasbourg, an engineer school well-known in France. This year, I’m preparing my last degree (M2). This last year is composed of one Erasmus Semester and one semester in a special company. I’ve decided to go to Madrid in Universidad Politecnica de Madrid and more precisely in « Escuela Superior de Edificacion » to finish my studies. About my final internship, I will probably do it in Geneva in Switzerland because it’s where I would like to live. I will do it in an Civil Engineering Office based on Structures.

After my studies, I wil introduce to you what I would like to do in my life, I mean for my real job. I would like to have my own company, a construction one. I’m found of erecting special ecological houses. To be more specific, I would like to build special houses with ecological materials and with a low carbon-impact. This houses needs to be self-efficient, it means that we need to find an ecological way to heat the house for example. So at the beginning, I want to find those solutions, but few years after I also want to be the company which build and sell those houses. Unfortunately, before that, I need to work during 5 or 10 years in an Civil Engineering Office to get skills and also money. Here is my future profesional profile !

Graduated in architecture with a master's degree in product design in Shanghái.

The opportunity of the master was offered to me by the university through a scholarship. Once there, I had the clear but hard decision to apply for internships work even if it was only for a few months and being a very different culture.
It was not easy as in previous times when I had done internships in Madrid, with my father behind, a fashion designer. I think that this is my father`s fault, that instead of working on real-scale architecture for man, I have ended up dedicating my life to designing products on a man-usable scale with the thinking mind of an architect.

My career is alarming for many and for others it is valuable, because I work on many fields. After Shanghái, my senses woke up and my mind was full of ideas of all kinds. So I was not able to be clear about what to do without giving up anything else. My mind goes from furniture, lighting mechanisms, retail, window dressing, fashion to technology. Until I realized that all that creativity was not a chaos, but it was a way of thinking about things and doing them with the head of an architect but taken to detail and dedication to a final product. And that has brought me here, to work in the AAE’s. To work with profiles so qualified and compatible with a type of architecture that looks more at the scale detail, understands the work of engineering involved for a final design.

The Musée Soulages is a museum of modern and contemporary art, architectural and theme-based frescoes from previous centuries. It has a vast temporary exhibition room and is designed to host events of both national and international dimension.

Respectful of its surroundings, the building is organised in a succession of parallelepiped volumes. The intervals remind the passerby of the « fenestras » in Aveyron, which offer a view of the horizon and favour contemplation. Orientated towards the garden, the south wall does not exceed three meters whilst on the the north side of the site, the ‘boxes’ are overlooking a pathway.

The cladding is made of Corten steel also known as weathering steel. When exposed to the weather, a protective layer of rust is created and perfectly suits the park’s natural surroundings. The shades of this steel also reflect Pierre Soulages’ work.

We each had our roles:

Elisa was the team coordinator for this project. As an architect-designer, she was the one, with the help of her team, that designed the form of the project. She worked on the general organization of the interior and exterior spaces and tried to integrate in them all the ideas of her colleagues. She worked a lot in collaboration with Mario to create a link between the architecture and the interior design.

Mario as interior design and communication/graphic identity.

The intention that the interior had was, more than a contrast with the exterior, to mark even more the volumetric character of the exterior, it seems that the whole building closes inwards to let the light in the folds pass again than the same exterior material allows you. This has to do with the first intention of to whom the building is dedicated, since it is not just any museum that houses works, but it is an emblematic museum to Jean Pierre Soulages. Its single form seeks that the exterior finish becomes more important inwards where the works are located, thanks to the resource of the finishes that are sought inside. In those gaps between the steel that stops and folds and lets there be a window, or a door that opens from the same material, even the furniture chosen to sit or sift the light inside wants to give the impression that it is that same skin on the outside that comes alive inside.

Nicolas act as a coordinator. Being the coordinator between architects and engineers is a position of high responsibility and it is necessary for Nicolas ORSET to be qualified in both fields to be relevant. His job is to give his opinion and find solutions architecturally and structurally viable and to find the perfect symbiosis between design and structure.
As a team coordinator, he has to be close to the entire team and manage tensions within the group.

Alexis worked as the Civil Engineering Manager. He was in charge of all the engineering part of the project, acting as an advisor for his colleagues. As a project manager, he is also the one that split the work with his team. For instance, he was the one that calculated the structure of the museum but it was one of his engineers that made the foundations. Alexis and Manuel worked a lot together to find new technologies to improve their works.

Manoel as a Tech leader worked on the entire development of the digital model and architectural documentation of the museum and also helped the team to solve technological issues. He also collaborated with outside collaborators managing the exchange of documents and architectural file models.
