         <description><![CDATA[<div>The division was founded October 12th, 1939. They were a training infantry. They were training in Tennessee. The 6th infantry was an army of men from all around the United States of America. The infantries original purpose was to be a training division. They were never intended to go out into battle because they were the last resort. So the entire division stayed on the base and trained. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>They fought on foot. In July 1944, They moved to Hawaii to assume defensive positions on Oahu. The Division first saw combat in the Toem-Wakde area of Dutch New Guinea, engaging in active patrolling 14-18 June, after taking up positions 6-14 June. Moving west of Toem, it fought a bloody battle with the enemy at Lone Tree Hill. The 6th Infantry's role was mainly to fight in the pacific location. No aircraft, no Military Boats,  they fought on foot. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Medal of Honor-2 </strong><br>This is the highest award you can receive after seeing combat. It is presented to someone who had great courage in the face of danger. <br><strong>Distinguished Service Cross-10</strong><br> This award is presented to someone who, while serving, has distinguished themselves by "exceptionally meritorious service to the Government in a duty of great responsibility."<br><strong>Distinguished Service Medal- 3</strong><br>This is an award that is the same thing as the DMC however, it's not as significant as the DMC. It is still an amazing honor to receive just that in the eyes of the Government they didn't do as exceptional things. <br><strong>Silver Star Medal- 697</strong><br>Awarded to someone for gallantry in action against an enemy of the United States. This is an armed soldier who had great personal dedication to defeating the enemy in combat. <br><strong>Legion of Merit- 18</strong><br>This is a military award based on the conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements.<br> <strong>Distinguished Flying Cross- 3</strong><br>Awarded to officer or enlisted member of the US Armed Forces who was in support or operations by "heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight."<br><strong>Soldiers Medal- 94<br></strong>Awarded to any person of the Armed Forces in the United States or of a friendly nation who while serving in any capacity of war was serving their duty in a heroic act.<br><strong>Bronze Star Medal-3,797<br></strong>The United States decoration awarded to members of the Armed Forces for heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Role in the future</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It was shortly deactivated before the Korean War in 1949. It was then reactivated during the Korean war from 1950-1956 and again reactivated in 1967 as part of the Vietnam War buildup, but then the Army decided that they were not needed anymore in Vietnam and deactivated again in 1968. Since March 23, 1986, the 6th division was reactivated as a Light Infantry Division as a part of the Rapid Deployment Force and they are now stationed at Ft. Richardson, Alaska. They took part in a joint US-Japan training exercise in the "Orient Shield 89 Maneuvers." It was deactivated again in the 1990s and has not been reactivated since. </div>]]></description>

In 1917, he was appointed senior military aide to President Wilson. <br><strong>Maj. Gen.</strong> <strong>Franklin Cummings Sibert-October, 1942- August 1944<br></strong>He was a United States a united states army General. he was later promoted to command the X Corps of General Walter Krueger's US Sixth Army.
