He looked at the landscape around him, colored by death. The gray sky cast a dark shadow upon the whole community; or what was left of it. George noticed that there were no longer people walking on the sidewalks and there was no longer a market on the street corner. His vision came into focus on the flashes of white and grey in his peripheral. Men and women filtered in and out of the office with an unsettling presence about them. Their hair was perfect and slicked back, their clothes perfectly ironed, and the colors crisp as if they’d never been worn twice. They had destroyed what was once a beautiful land, they had reduced it to mud and pavement and factories. 

A car pulled up in front of him and he opened the door “Where to?” said the driver

“Back to New York,” he said “I’ve spent enough time here.”

“Yes, finally.” said (MC) as she ran out of her room to her mother (name).

“Mom, I did it”, she had started explaining everything to her mother, as she listened closely even if she didn’t understand.

Afterwards, she ran back into her room excitedly, slamming the door behind her.
