He is able to interact easily and have conversation, while with other adults, Holden often finds himself arguing, judging, or unable to withstand normal communication. Holden's admiration for children also re appears when he sees the boy walking on the side of the road singing "when a body catch a body coming through the rye". These pieces of information support the fact that Holden is stuck between being an adult and being a child, because he admires the nature of young children, possibly how honest and direct they are, based on the people he has interacts with throughout his lifetime. Even though Holden is not a child, flirts with older women and tries to but himself drinks, a piece of him still admires childhood and youth, making him ambivilant between growing up and entering adulthood and responsibilites, or staying child-like and being care free.
