- The author uses weather to convey tone, mood, or symbolizing-it always means more than just weather.
- Rain is commonly used because it is more universally devastating-getting wet, muddy, grey, and cold.
- Rain can mean cleanse, pouring down on someone to rinse them of problems. It can also mean the opposite by a character getting soaked or muddy in the rain.
- Rain can also be used for romance, characters fighting or even rekindling their relationship in the rain.
- Fog is also used because it is very mysterious, unknown, and gives you an unsettling feeling.
- Snow can be used for dual meanings- happy for a Christmas morning, bright, and good to play in, or dark, mushy, numbing your hand when you touch it.

Weather can represent tones, themes and ideas within a story. For instance, Rainbows can represent a pact between humans and god, as well as peace. Rain often represents itself as cleansing and new beginnings. Storms can represent conflict, death, and darkness. The presence of fog can indicate confusion and mystery within a story. -Audrey, Havana, and Riley.
