Men must wear formal attire and neutral colors for their shirts and ties. Both may not have piercings or tattoos, nor hair cuts which are distracting. Mormons emigrated to Utah, which was currently owned by Mexico in the 1800's, in order to avoid prosecution. Soon after it was taken back by the U.S and the government feared Mormons for their attempts to form a theocracy, joining of church and state. The government threatened to attack the Mormons but never followed through. The Utah war didn't end in bloodshed, but the Mormons did attack civilians on September 11th of 1850.
