Mr. Tweedy writes that in the 1970s, when “Dancing Queen” came out, there were “very strict lines being drawn between cultural camps” and that, as a kid who liked punk rock, the song was “situated deep in enemy territory.”

Does that resonate with your own experiences?
Do you ever feel as if you aren’t allowed to like or dislike certain things because of your own cultural identification?

Do you agree with his advice? Are we all too quick to pass judgment on things, and might that make us miss out on great experiences and joys?

Between my first year of middle school and my first year of high school, I thought learning was meaningless, but that changed.

I used to hate my middle school math teacher and told a lot of people that he was mean. But one time he came to me and apologized for saying something that was way out of line and then I changed my mind.

When I was in middle school I hated reading Chinese novels, but one time I had no more videos to watch for my favorite show, then I tried reading Chinese novels and i loved them.

At some point I starting to dislike music in mandarin and songs I usually listen to, but now when it some how recommend it to me I'll still listen to it and find it enjoyable.

When I was a kid, I did not like eating green peppers or onions. Now I love both
I used to think nature was dumb and loved playing video games as a middle schooler. However, around high school, I got my first pair of glasses and thought things were very beautiful.
I always liked Windows PCs, until a few years ago when I bought my first MacBook air. Now I am trapped in the Apple ecosystem.

My tastes changed real quick since I was a kid (by that I can easily be influenced by the environment), even now I feels like I'm pretty flexible about what I like and dislike.

I feel like at some point our environment forces us to hate China as a whole, but after I know it more I kind of realised I should probably separate it's government with it's citizen and it's culture.
