He felt like he had to save everyone because that's the type of person he is. Eddie disagrees with him because he still feels like he had to find the missing child. Eddie doesn't understand that sacrifice is a necessary part in life yet.

I was happy for them reading this section. They both agreed and came to the conclusion that their problems were needed to go forward in life. Eddie was upset that the Captain shot his leg, and the Captain was upset that Eddie didn't see his sacrifice all along. They met in heaven to talk about it while they were in the same boat. They accepted each other's mistakes and moved on with their lives.

I was shocked about what his father did about the situation. I knew that Eddie and his father had a bad relationship, but I didn't think he would ignore him. I expected him to have a little more sympathy for his son after he just injured himself. This shows that his father is very serious about his opinion of the military.

I liked this part of the book because it gives the readers a learning lesson. It talks about how parents main roles are to watch and take care of their children. But, they never talk about letting go of them. There is never really any advice for parents to help them go through this process, so they attach themselves to them. Also, it is their natural instinct because they love them and care for them. In the end, children grow and learn that their parents gave them stepping stones to help them along the way.

I feel like I wouldn't even think about what he did for me until after this situation was over with. Inside, his father might be a good person but he doesn't show it to his children. He may not know how to express his love for others
