Genre is the type of literature, whether it is mystery, romantic, adventure, etc.

Author's purpose is why an author writes, whether to persuade, inform, or entertain.

Hyperbole is an extreme exaggeration. Ms. Hilliard is the skinniest person in the world. NOT! (my doctor says weight loss is needed..ha!)

Capitalize:
Beginning of a sentence.
Proper names..Esteban, Mary,
Places: Paris, France...Dallas, Texas
Days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (in Spanish, I do not think they are capitalized)
Holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas
Months: January, February (again, in Spanish, I do not think they are capitalized..not sure)

Put a period at the end of a sentence.

Do not use run-ons. I can be guilty of that. That is where a sentence runs on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on..too long. A stence is a complete though.

A simile is when you compare something with like or as. She is as hot as hot chips!

Point of View is what point of view is a story from..1st person (I smiled at Sammy); 2nd person (You smiled at Sammy): 3rd person (He smiled at Sammy; Mary smiled at Sammy; it (the dog) seemed to smile at Sammy.

Inference is an educated guess. If I see that the lights are out at a store I drive up to, I can draw an inference that the store is closed.

When reading a story and if there are questions afterwards, we go back to the text to check our answers to look for the answer. It is hard to remember everything, especially on long reading passages.
