However, the older generation did not seem to mind this and they took it as their responsibility to nurture the family. Still, I felt that this was a classic example of gender equality. However, if it happens to be someone close to me in my immediate family circle, I would not be able to accept it as I believe I am become too entrenched in my traditional beliefs owing to the people around me.

Different genders have their unique strengths and we need to focus on these rather than seeking equality, which to me is quite unrealistic as who defines equality and what exactly does it look like? My two brothers ( one elder and one younger) could happily sleep in late, watch tv while I would be reprimanded for sleeping in and had to partake in household chores like helping my mother with the chores and cooking of food.
