DESCRIPTION: This is similar to the "Brown Bear Book Project", but students have to go out into their neighborhood/community and take pictures of at least 5-10 bugs and fill out the sheet below for each one. They will print and paste the pictures they took in the "What it looks like" section. This serves as a fun, hands-on activity that incorporates DL by giving students a chance to act like scientists by researching and reporting their findings.

Insect Investigation. (n.d.).
Plants vs. Animals Video: Similarities and Differences

DESCRIPTION: This video would be one of the opening videos to the unit, and would most likely be watched more than once to refresh student memory. I chose this video because I liked the way it was laid out, and thought it did a very nicel job simplifying the similarities and differences between animals and plants. This video would also be the main resource in the "Super Sized Venn Diagram" activity.

Plants and Animals - Similarities and Differences | Environmental Studies For Kids |. (2017, April 15).
Food Chain Art Activity

DESCRIPTION: This activity would be completed after reading and discussing the book, "Who Eats What?" I thought this was fun way to reinforce the lesson of the food chain through art. Students would be required to have at least 3 animals in their creation (as seen below). After completion, students would briefly share their creations. At the end of the day, I would hang each on the wall outside of the classroom so everyone can admire/enjoy them?

Food Chain "Big Mouth", Art lessons . (n.d.).
