"When Atticus turned away from Mayella he looked like his stomach hurt, but Mayella's face was a mixture of terror and fury." (Lee 213) This shows how Atticus just tore into Mayella in the court case and gives a vivid description of what the aftermath was like in the courtroom. 

As Tom gave his testimony, it really showed how lonely Mayella really was. Not leaving the house for 25 years, and also not understanding what Tom is saying, always thinking he's making fun of her. (Lee 218) This shows how desperate for attention and lonely Mayella is, and will do anything fro someone to cares about what she has to say.

This situation is kind of ironic when you think about it.
