STAGE 1: TRUST VS MISTRUST

Stage one occurs during a child's infancy until eighteenth months. During the Trust vs Mistrust stage, this is when babies learn to trust and who to trust especially to those who are in need of basic needs. Babies need food, shelter, and a feeling of security and during this stage, they look for who they can trust. If a baby learns to mistrust their caregivers/parents, they can blossom anxiety and mistrust to others older or in their same age group.

From My Stage 1:
During this stage I grew to trust everyone in my family, my siblings, my aunts, grandparents, etc. In my household I was blessed to be born where we didn't have to wonder where our next meal would come and if our bills would be paid or not. There were times where I would feel a mistrust until my parents or older siblings told me that it was okay or that this person is good and trustworthy.

Stage two occurs during a child's first eighteen months to three years of life. This is the stage according to Erikson where a child continues to grow physically and cognitively and learn to become more independent like dressing themselves. Toddlers learn to become more self-aware and expand on their trust levels with others. The parents play a key into a child's development and success down the road.

From My Stage 2:
When I was in this stage, I was able to grab my toys by myself, feed myself, etc. I was a lot more independent and my parents would allow me to be independent until I was three and got cancer and my parents would do my tasks for me, so some of my stage two was delayed.

Stage three occurs during a toddler's three to five years old. During this stage, kids start to go to preschool and kindergarten. They start to evolve a sense of purpose and this is also when kids like to explore more and do things on their own. Toddlers in this stage start to learn and understand school concepts and become more involved in social interactions. Imagination is at the highest form during this stage. If the caregivers are too strict this may affect how a child can explore and develop a sense of guilt as they can see a lot more things as a a bad thing that can make them feel guilty.

From My Stage 3:
Although during this stage I was in the hospital about the same amount of time as I was at school, and being on a bunch of medications I felt like I still had a big imagination and would often walk around and explore around the hospital and my neighborhood.

This stage takes place during a child's elementary school era, six to thirteen years old. Children become more competitive with basically everything that they will come across. Kids learn to read, write, do math, and play sports and teachers will play a big role in their life, showing them how to develop and use these skills. Kids will often compare themselves to their peers and try to show and prove that they are better than them.

From My Stage 4:
At the beginning of this stage I had finished my cancer treatments and the treatments affected my reading, writing, and mathematics comprehension. Just like every child I would engage in competition sports (not through the school, just recreational). In my neighborhood, I would often play kickball, basketball, football, tag, etc. with my neighbors.

This is where adolescents start to become more adaptable to what society expects. Boys and girls' bodies goes through a lot of changes as they get ready to become adults. This is when people can come to terms with their sexual identity, ideals, and beliefs. While one's self-esteem and self-confidence can be tested.

From My Stage 5:
In this stage, I became more mature and while my self-esteem was tested greatly and questioned myself I was able to accept myself and ignore what others had to say. In my first half of my high school (freshman-sophomore) I questioned my sexuality thinking I was gay but the family exception was straight only but came terms to myself and in my sophomore year came out as bisexual to everyone except a majority of my family. My political belief system took a full 180.

A majority of adults in stage seven, have an urge to be productive and find the need for society. Adults may feel like they haven't succeeded in life and go into a midlife crisis, and struggle to find a purpose in life.

From My Stage 7:
Has you could predict, I have not touched this stage in my life. But I expect that I will have a child or children that will grow up and move out and I also expect that I would feel unsuccessful in my life later, and my midlife crisis may be a very expensive purchase, like purchasing an expensive sports car or luxury car.

Stage eight occurs for people in their late adulthood stage, which is ages sixty-five and older. This is when people generally retire and this is when people feel a sense of fulfilment acknowledging that they have made a notable benefaction to society. This is when people feel proud of their achievements no matter how big or small their achievements may compare to others in their age group. But there are people who entire this stage feeling unsuccessful and feel like they have wasted their time doing a job or task they did not like and feel like they had not had a success or a contribution to society.

From My Stage 8:
Although I had not reached this stage, I can expect that I may feel successful and somewhat unsuccessful. So, I may not be able to predict this stage since I feel like stage seven and a lot of stage six would have to play a big role into this stage.
