It's been proven that those living alone do not live as long as those who live in groups. If gazelles didn't develop there herding technique, their population would probably be extremely low, because alone, predators could easily take them. Also, they wouldn't be able to adapt, where the ones who survive reproduce passing on the genes that helped them survive. Being alone makes it harder to find a mate, making it unable to reproduce.
