A unified paragraph concentrates on and expands on a single main idea. This concept is usually expressed in a single sentence known as a topic sentence. The supporting sentences in the paragraph should logically elaborate on the topic sentence.

How to create a unified paragraph?

1- Create a paragraph centered on a major idea. In the topic sentence, express this idea.

2- Make use of transition words or connecting words and pronouns to rephrase something important so, it won't sound redundant. This will make your paragraph coherent.

3- Make the connection between the paragraph's main idea and the paper's thesis clear. Don't expect the reader to understand your intended message at first.

4- Remove sentences that do not support the main idea.

5 - Details should be used to back up the main idea.

The goal of connecting sentences, ideas, and paragraphs is to lead the reader down the path you've created. That is a good way to prove a point. An essay writer does not leave it up to the reader to infer or fill in the blanks.

Using transition expressions and sentences, without question, is the best tool to include in your supporting paragraphs. In this case, they will help you connect paragraphs to have a good flow in your essay.

- Transition expression:
A transition or linking word is a word or phrase that indicates the connection between paragraphs or sections of a text or speech. Transitions improve cohesion by making it more explicit or signaling how ideas are related to one another.

  • They have a clear and direct connection with the main ideas.
  • They are backed-up by evidence or illustrated by examples. 

We must keep in mind that in doing so, it is not just a matter of putting down on paper a number of ideas related to the topic that is proposed to us in the problem. When writing, we must meditate on our opinion about it and how our personal experience is related to what we are asked to write.
Once we are clear about what we are going to write, another question arises. How do I arrange the ideas in the paragraphs of the essay in such a way that we can see that they have a logical order?

For example, if you are writing an essay about the reasons why planning for tomorrow is not enough if you do not take practical actions to execute the plan you have made, you could write a paragraph like the following:

TOPIC SENTENCE: Although planning is an important step in the organization of every activity, from managerial tasks to personal chores, there is nothing to it if those hard thought plans are not put into action.

SUPPORTING IDEA: Although this seems to be  common sense, there are people that find it hard to translate into action what they so properly put on paper as the path to follow in order to achieve the goals proposed.
