I realize I can’t be so gullible and fully believe everything I am taught, even if it is from Google, or books, or my own teachers, and to start diving deeper into topics that I am taught about to formulate my own true knowledge.

How we came over from Britain and fought for our independence. That the Founding Fathers were these "heroes" that wrote the Declaration of Independence and founded our country. But many people don't stop to think about the native people that were already living here and were forced to leave their homes to make room for the coming Europeans. The Founding Fathers also did a lot of terrible things we are never taught in school like how John Adams signed an Act in 1798 that made it illegal to talk bad about him or the government which directly interferes with our first amendment right to freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
