<title>Research Slideshow Project by Holly Pottle</title>
      <link>https://padlet.com/hollypottle1/5laqctk7d5u7</link>
<description>Due in the &quot;Discussions&quot; link across the top center of our class Blackboard page Thursday, May 12 by 11:59 p.m. Worth 200 points.
As a science, sociology focuses a lot on research. For this assignment, you will choose two studies from scholarly, peer-reviewed journals based on a topic you are interested in. I asked students to submit citations of two studies you are considering using, and providee feedback in the &quot; My Grades&quot; link on the left sidebar of our class Blackboard page, or by e-mail if you e-mailed these to me.

Use the small icon on the right of each column to scroll up and down it.

Poster Samples
These samples are just ideas for aesthetic and artistic purposes. For written content and other requirements, please go by what the checklist in the previous column says- not by the poster samples.
You don't have to stick to these styles. It is also okay if you are unable to read the text considering that these samples are about artistic style rather than text.

Video Instructions

Steps
Steps
Peer-reviewed journal articles include the thorough write up of entire studies by the researchers who did the studies. Articles are reviewed by professionals in the subject (such as sociology) and the reviewers can decide to accept the article as is, reject it, or give a conditional acceptance which means the article will be accepted if certain modifications are met.

1. Go to the STC website at www.southtexascollege.edu .

2. In the upper right corner search box, type in "library" and click the search button that looks like a magnifying glass. The STC library will be the first link in the list. Click onto that link.

3. On the right side of the screen on the library's webpage, there is a heading that says "Research Tools." Under this heading, click on the link that says "Discovery Search."

4. Then, click the "Advanced Search" link in the purple bar across the upper center of the page.

5. Then, type your keywords.

5. Finally, under the "Limit Database Results" heading on the left side of the page, click onto "Source Type." Lastly, click onto "Academic Journals." This is another term for peer-reviewed journals. You are now ready to do your search. A list of articles should appear.
