“Challenging all school staff to change the way in which they have traditionally worked across all school settings.” (Www.cde.gov/ci/cr/ri/mtsscinprti2.asp)

I picked this sentence because the school site I am currently employed at is working to change the way discipline is done with the children. The school has adopted a discipline curriculum that places much emphasis on student accountability and responsibility. This school site has also adopted a new reading curriculum that is unlike any that have been used in the past. I think it is important to be willing to be flexible in changing the way things are done in school to accommodate the 21st century student.

"These include the interventions within the RtI2 processes, supports for Special Education, Title I, Title III, support services for English Learners, American-Indian students, and those in gifted and talented programs." (https://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/cr/ri/mtsscomprti2.asp) I chose this sentence from the California Department of Education's definition of Multi-Tiered System of Support because it addressed the many resources and programs that school districts and educators provide for additional academic support to students. I feel that it is important for educators to be familiar with these resources because these programs can bridge the gap between introduction and development of essential academic skills.
