My great-grandparents, grandparents, and my parents are all from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Given that my paternal grandmother was born in 1930, she'd have entered the world just as Bosnia was integrated into the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Before this, Bosnia was under the occupation of Austria-Hungary, and before this, it fell to the Ottoman Empire. It would largely be the Ottoman period that influenced the food, culture, and language of the Bosnians (or the Bosnian Muslims) to this day.

A teacher and a writer, so, I guess my dreams did come true!
