Just like Morrie even when his diagnosis of ALS came he grieved for himself for a couple days and then just bounced back and chose to keep living and looking at the good things he can still do. A bouncy ball can take many hits and still be ready for another game. Morrie has taken many hits himself, during his childhood when his mother died and his father was never there and then his brother gets polio and now he has ALS and will die soon. But he continues to look for the good and keeps playing the game even though it's his last one.

Elephants are the most intelligent animals on Earth, so its only fitting to have an intelligent symbol for Morrie. Elephants are also very loving creatures. When scuba divers use these tanks they need to be self aware and smart about how much time they have to use the air while in the water. With Morries illness it is very similar, he doesnt have much time left with his loved ones and just like the tank, it´s ¨running out of air¨. The tank and both Morrie have a quality of the progression of time they have left, the tank has a meter that shows the air left and Morrie has the symptoms of ALS.

I believe this represents Morrie because a balance scale moves up or down when weight is added or taken away. The other side rises up and shows how he stays up and exciting, even knowing he will soon pass. Overall showing that to experience those high moments in life you have to experience the lowest lows.
